My story:

My name is Dr. Brandon Blood. I have a passion for helping patients dealing with chronic pain.

Why?

I had the experience of helping someone I love that was struggling from chronic pain: My wife, Aubrey.

About 15 years ago, Aubrey started dealing with back pain following a long car ride.  At the time, we were newly married, living in Florida, and we decided to drive home for the Christmas holiday to see our family.

After this long car ride, her back started getting very stiff and sore.

We did some typical things to start, like ice and stretching, with no lasting relief.

The stiffness and soreness slowly escalated and started to become more painful.

Sitting was uncomfortable.

Standing and walking for short periods started to become aggravating.

We took her to the chiropractor while we were home.

It didn't help and seemed to be more aggravating.

At this point, we knew we had to make our way back to Florida.  She was dreading the car ride.

We made it back but the pain continued to intensify.

Looking for answers, we saw a medical doctor in Florida.  An MRI was ordered and revealed some disc bulging in her lower back with an annular tear.

We went to a neurologist to try other conservative medical treatments.  Medication was prescribed, laser therapy was attempted, all without relief.

The pain kept persisting.

About one year later, we moved back to Ohio.

Pain was persisting and continued to slowly become more intense and more limiting.

Sitting became almost unbearable for any length of time.

Movement became harder and more limited.

She was miserable.

We were referred to a pain management consultation.  It was advised based on the MRI findings and the lack of response to conservative care, that she should try an epidural steroid injection.

Several weeks went by and the procedure day came around.

She was brave and underwent the injection hoping to find relief.

Nothing.  No relief.  The frustration continued.

Knowing we had to find a way to get her more active, she was sent for aquatic physical therapy.  During this time she also underwent a nerve study by a local neurology group which, thankfully, turned out negative.

She was able to complete the therapy fairly comfortably.  But it didn't translate to real life.  She couldn't live in a swimming pool.

At this point, we were about 2 years of pain.   Chronic daily frustrating pain.

At this point, she couldn't comfortably walk down our driveway to get mail out of the mailbox without crying.

Depression was really setting in at this point.

Looking for any options, we decided to go see an orthopedic surgeon.  He came highly recommended and we were hopeful to get options to help get Aubrey's life back.

We met with the orthopedic surgeon.

He did a thorough history, exam, and review of her diagnostic studies.

At the end of the visit we heard the words 'There is nothing I can do for you, you are going to have to learn to live with it.'

We were both crushed.

At that point I knew I needed to figure it out.  There is was no way there wasn't a solution out there to help end her suffering.

After doing more of my own research, I came across a potential solution.

A solution that involved a multi-faceted approach involving medical, chiropractic, and rehabilitation measures.

At this point we both figured what do we have to lose.  The risk was low and the potential benefit was high.

We weren't sure if insurance was going to cover it but at this point we did not care.  We were willing to try anything.

The procedure took place in a hospital setting.

After several months of qualification and training, she went though with it.

Following the procedure, Aubrey started getting her life back.

Her pain levels started to reduce.

She could do more activities during the day with less aggravation.

Her happiness started to return and she was on a positive path of recovery.

To this day, Aubrey is able to live her life without interruption.

She has the occasional discomfort, but has the recipe to get alleviate it.

After going through all of this with Aubrey, it dawned on me...

The approach it took involved a variety of healthcare minds including medical, chiropractic, and rehabilitation measures to help someone like Aubrey that could not otherwise be helped.

Since then, I dreamed to own a facility that incorporates just that.

A team approach to help patients overcome their pain and get back to the life they want to live.

In 2018 this dream became a reality.

My facility now incorporates the best of conservative medical, chiropractic, and rehabilitative treatment options to help patients that may not be otherwise helped with a team approach.

If this story sounds familiar to you, there may be hope.

Our goal is to help our patients live a better quality of life without the restrictions of pain.

We offer a unique team approach with unique treatment options to help achieve this.

Not everyone is a candidate for our various pain programs as there are many variables to helping patients with chronic pain.

If we do feel we can assist you, we like to outline:

1. What are the underlying driver(s) of your pain
2. What it will take to help reverse the processes in place
3. How long it may take
4. What expectations of care are

As a courtesy, we also like to review health insurance coverage with you.

If you want to take the next steps and see if you are a candidate for our care, submit your information below and we will contact you to start the process.

Ultimately, our goal is to help our patients experience life, not pain.
